I’ve had a (well, emailed at any rate) chat with my agent. It’s time for some honest truth and some soul-seeking. Evidently, today’s market is not ready for what the publishers are calling “capers” — light-hearted adventure stories.
This makes me sad, because that’s what I’m best at writing and what I like best to read. It’s also frustrating because I’ve finished Book 3 and now have to think of rewriting the whole thing with a darker slant to it. Fortunately, this is a book that can be thus slanted, so I just have to buckle down and get to it.
I might use NaNoWriMo as my jumping off point.
