An Old West Frame of Mind
J.E.S. Hays lives in South Carolina in a little house full of books and photographs. When not off in The Old West, she can be found wandering around with a camera in one hand.
J.E.S. (pronounced ‘Jess’) is addicted to travel, and prefers to wander around finding out what spots the locals recommend instead of going on organized tours. She’s especially drawn to the American Southwest and to San Francisco – both places feature heavily in her stories. Her favorite experiences to date have been a train ride from Chicago to San Francisco, and an up-close-and-personal encounter with a baby humpback whale off the coast of Kauai’i.
J.E.S. is a member of Western Writers of America, Western Fictioneers, Women Writing the West, and Sisters in Crime. She’s an avid blogger, both on her own website at www.jeshays.com and on the Western Fictioneers blog. Her Facebook page, JESHaysBooks, has over 30,000 followers and she also posts daily writing prompts on Twitter @jes_hays.
J.E.S. is the author of the Devon Day and the Sweetwater Kid universe: Down the Owlhoot Trail, an anthology of short stories, and Outlaw Security, her latest novel. She is hard at work on the second book in the series now. Devon Day and the Sweetwater Kid have also appeared in the Wolf Creek series by “Ford Fargo,” and J.E.S. has a character in that series, Dublin Gannon.
