What I’m Reading: William Krueger

You know I love my mystery stories!

In this series, former small-town sheriff Corcoran “Cork” O’Connor is continually drawn back into solving crimes. He’s a middle-aged (at the beginning of the series) part-Irish, part-Ojibwe who starts out separated from his wife and family because of his work habits. I really like the characters in this series. Cork is very relatable and believable, and his mentor, elderly Ojibwe Henry Meloux, is wonderfully enigmatic. The crimes always look simple, but turn out to be full of twists and turns that keep you from guessing “whodunnit” until the very end.

If you like police procedurals, Native American history, small towns, or Minnesota, pick up one of these books and give Cork O’Connor a try.
