What I’m Reading: Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island

This is a new series by Southern author Susan Boyer. She wrote Lowcountry Boil and the other books in that series. I liked those, so I’m trying this one.

In the new series, we have another private investigator, though this one’s solo. Hadley Cooper is asked by a new friend to investigate a possibly-cheating husband. Before she can get any evidence, her new friend is found brutally murdered. Hadley is convinced the husband did it–even though he has a rock-solid alibi: Hadley herself. The night of the murder, she trailed the man to Greenville, where he met friends, got drunk, and retired to his hotel. Since Hadley had a GPS tracker on his car, she was positive he couldn’t have left the premises. So how could he have murdered his wife?

I enjoyed this cozy read. It’s always good reading about the Lowcountry, and including Greenville is just a bonus. And I always like a good whodunnit where the main suspect has an air-tight alibi. There’s an old, mysterious death involved somehow, and Hadley must figure out what’s going on with the beach house she’s been hired to watch, which seems tailor-built for her tastes. Can she solve all the mysteries before someone else she cares about gets hurt?
