15 Gifts for Writers

It’s that time of year again – time to figure out the perfect present for your writer! Here are fifteen great ideas to get you in the mood:

Writing-Related Clothing (or Tote Bags): Out of Print can put just about any text onto a t-shirt, tote bag or scarf. What about a pair of library card socks for just $14?

A snazzy journal: This one’s under $20 but you can find something for nearly any price if you’d like to splurge a bit.

“Go Away I’m Writing” Tumbler: For around $25, you can get a smart-arse tumbler that will (hopefully) warn possible looky-loos away from your writer at work.

A mug for your future best-selling author: Every author needs a little inspiration now and then, so why not let your writer know you’re behind them all the way? Another under-$20 gift.

Pilot FriXion Clickable Erasable Gel Pens: You can get this pack of assorted ink colors, too, and it’s less than $20.

For a really great surprise, what about their book cover on a keychain? This Etsy shop will put any image onto a keychain, necklace, cuff links, or charm bracelet charm for under $30.

A personalized silver pencil necklace could really thrill your writer. They’re running at a little under $100 and you’ll need to give them time to engrave the initials but it’s worth it for the surprise element.

Scrivener: For around $60, your writer can have one of the premiere writing software programs out there. I use this one myself and it’s amazing.

If you’re thinking unique clothing, what about a tarot-inspired writer’s sweatshirt? This Etsy shop has designed a tarot card just for writers and printed it onto a long-sleeved sweatshirt for your author. It’s running around $45.

A housecleaning gift certificate ($150…$250…or free?): Imagine this scenario. Your writer happily ensconced at their favorite cafe, sipping a beverage and working away while at home, the house is being cleaned. You can hire a service–or do it yourself for a “free” (except for your labor of course) gift!

A subscription to Canva Pro: As an author with two blogs, a Facebook, and an Instagram account, I use Canva a lot! Your author probably does as well (or they should). A subscription to the paid version is around $120, but you’ll be amazed at the options you’ll have with it.

A comfy footrest: This ergonomically designed, memory foam footrest will support your writer’s feet and legs, easing back pain and making those long sessions fly by faster. It’s running around $45

What writer doesn’t need a good hot cuppa? Either tea or coffee, this Vobaga warmer will keep your author’s mug toasty warm for them. It’s on sale right now for around $30.

Noise-cancelling earbuds (or headphones): These are under $100, but you can get either headphones or earbuds for all sorts of prices. Give your writer the gift of a quiet time to write.

A book: This one’s by Jeff Goins and it’s called You Are a Writer (So Start Acting Like One). It’s got a lot of great advice for new (and not-so-new) authors and Jeff has a great website as well. You can get practically any writing textbook, however, and your writer will be thrilled. There are so many to choose from, too, at all levels of pricing.

I hope you’ve found the perfect gift for your writer. And, if not, you can always browse the internet by typing “unique gifts for writers” into your search engine.
