Real Life Updates

I have been confined to my writing office lately, which is both a good and a bad thing. I walked down the two front steps from my porch to the driveway and heard something go “pop!” in my right knee. Walking on it immediately felt as if someone had shoved a knife blade behind my kneecap. I went back inside, iced it, & elevated it overnight. The next day, it was no better, so I took a trip down to the local ER for an X-Ray (nothing broken, thankfully) and a knee brace. I’m a little surprised they didn’t give me anything at all for pain. I was so miserable I didn’t even ask, but my doctor seemed surprised when I got in to see him & said they should have at least given me a shot of Toradol.

So for the past week I’ve been sitting in my library/office with my knee elevated on a pillow in my recliner. The brace does help a good bit, keeping the joint stabilized so it doesn’t get that stabbing pain quite so often. I have some pain medicine to take now & am going to start physical therapy as soon as the doctor can set something up. I did get an appointment with an orthopedic specialist, but they can’t see me until October (!), by which time I suspect I will be totally cured.

The upside is that I’ve finished a new short story for an anthology called Hidden Villains: Betrayed. I’ve also started a new one for the Patreon followers and gotten about halfway through a romance plot outline for the Amish story publisher. I’ve also got a new set of voiceovers for the language tutor’s website to do.
