I spent most of Monday in the urgent care center and emergency room because every time I took a breath I had stabbing pains. The doctors never did figure out what it was but they ruled out heart attack, blood clot, and pneumonia. A thorough WebMD search and consult with friends resulted in a self-diagnosis of pleurisy, which is an inflammation of the lining of your lung cavity. Supposed to cause severe pain upon breathing (check), radiating around to the back (check), and get worse if you move (check). The good news is that it seems to be responding to ibuprofen and a muscle relaxant (I only take that at night though). My friends said theirs resolved within a few days so …
