OK, I’ve had to put Woman in White down as un-finish-able. Maybe I’ll go back to it later, but for now I’m trying the author’s other famous novel, perhaps the first modern detective novel.
In the book, a young English woman inherits a large Indian diamond from a relative. There’s an English country manor, bungling policemen, and a host of suspects. Should be better than the other one … I hope!
