I’ve signed up for my local library’s Winter Reading Challenge and one of the challenges is to read a book written in the 19th Century. I thought, since I like mysteries, this would be a good fit. Man, it’s slow going, though. I’ll admit, my brain seems to have adapted to our modern “sound-byte” culture and I’m not certain which information will be important later in the book and which is just colorful description…nearly 500 pages of it …
